What does rinse aid do?
Rinse aid is a drying agent that increases the drying speed of your washed dishes, cutlery and glassware. It does this by reducing the surface tension of water. Normally, water has a high surface tension, which results in large beads forming and sticking to your dishes in the dishwasher. These large beads of water take longer to dry, and when they do dry up, they can often leave water spots on your glassware. Rinse aid contains surfactants that reduce the surface tension of water. Water with reduced surface tension tends to form thin sheets, rather than large beads, which evaporate much more easily.
Should I use rinse aid?
If you have hard water, you’re more likely to get water spots after running the dishwasher. Do you already notice spotting on your dishes? Rinse aid will help to avoid these. If you prefer to skip the heat cycle to reduce energy costs, rinse aid will help your dishes dry faster without the added heat.
