Meet Karl, our new Production Supervisor. Find out more about him and the great work he’s doing with us.
1. What led you to this next step in your career?
I was looking for a chance to get out of the food industry as I’d worked with food for the past 23 years. I was also looking for a role with better hours so I can spend more time with my daughter.
2. What’s one thing that’s surprised you since joining Chemical Solutions?
Definitely how friendly and open everyone is. It’s amazing to work somewhere where everyone knows everyone.
3. Coffee, tea, or something else entirely?
Beer, I love a good drink lol.
4. What’s a small thing that always makes your day better?
Spending more time with my girl. She brightens my mood every day and I’m grateful that I get to spend every afternoon with her now.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
When I’m not spending time with my daughter, I am building my World War 2 Lego in my garage. I’m a huge World War 2 history buff and my armoured vehicle collection is growing rapidly.
6. Do you have a hidden talent or a fun party trick?
Nothing really, I’m quite boring these days lol. I used to be good at drawing, but that talent is slowly fading.
7. What’s a favourite quote you live by—or the best advice you’ve ever received?
A poem I created in my younger days:
Whatever was will always be.
Whatever should is only but a dream.
Whatever could was never meant to be.
But whatever will is your destiny.
8. What’s a place that’s shaped who you are—whether it’s where you grew up, travelled to, or lived for a while?
Australia, I lived on the Gold Coast for 6 years in my younger days and I miss that country so much. Love the people, lifestyle, culture and nature. Australians are so proud to live there and so proud to call Australia home. They have a great sense of pride. They say home is where your heart is and Australia is always where my heart is.
9. What’s one tradition or dish from your culture that you think everyone should experience at least once?
Hangi, proper hangi that’s been cooked in the ground. Not the rip off steamed versions that most people have. I want to taste the dirt on the food lol.
10. What’s your favourite song, band, or musician?
Now that’s a hard one with so many to choose from but would probably have to go with Bliss n Eso. Good old Aussie hip-hop. Whenever I listen to them it makes me remember the good old days of living in Australia.
11. What’s a book, movie, or show you’d recommend and why?
Taejukgi: The Brotherhood of War, best war movie I’ve ever seen. It’s a Korean movie all in subtitles about two brothers who fought during the Korean War. It is disturbingly graphic but the most heartwarming movie I have ever seen. Brilliant acting, amazing story and shows the reality of war.
12. If your calendar had one recurring, non-negotiable slot for something fun each week, what would it be?
Spending time with my girl. She keeps me entertained constantly and I love my 1 on 1 time with her.
