Meet Laura, our new Graphic Designer. Discover more about her and her creative journey.
1. What led you to this next step in your career?
After recently graduating with a Bachelor of Design at AUT, I was ready to kick-start my career in the industry. I had a couple of short-term contract roles, but was ready to settle down in something more permanent where I could add value to a team, and upskill as I go – and this role felt like the perfect fit!
2. What’s one thing that’s surprised you since joining Chemical Solutions?
Everyone is super friendly and helps each other out. I feel comfortable asking anyone a question as they’re always happy to help.
3. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Teleportation so I could go anywhere anytime – free travel and avoiding traffic!
4. What are you most proud of?
Definitely getting my degree, it was challenging but very rewarding in the end.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I love going to the beach, pilates, nature walks, and spending time with friends and family.
6. What/Who inspires you the most and why?
My mum is my biggest inspiration and motivator. She has shaped me into who I am today, and I can go to her about anything, knowing she’ll always support me.
7. What’s a favourite quote you live by—or the best advice you’ve ever received?
Trust yourself! You can do more than you think you can do.
8. If you could travel to and or live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I’ve always wanted to travel around Europe – it’s definitely a goal within the next few years. I particularly want to go to Greece to experience the culture, beautiful beaches and architecture – and the cats!
9. If you could have one last meal, what would it be?
That’s tough but I think I’d have to go with pizza.
10. What’s your favourite song, band, or musician?
It’s always changing but at the moment I’m loving Lorde – specifically her album Pure Heroine, she’s my favourite Kiwi artist.
11. What’s a book, movie, or show you’d recommend and why?
At the moment I’m obsessed with watching Stranger Things, it always has me on the edge of my seat. But my all-time favourite comfort show would have to be Friends.
12. What are three things you can’t live without?
Family, friends, and the beach.
