Proper cleaning methods in the current storm of the Coronavirus has become a prevalent area of concern. Unfortunately, due to its recent discovery there is no concrete solution to clean specifically against Covid-19.
“Not many scientific studies have asked which are the most effective disinfecting agents to use against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19” says Siobain Duffy, associate professor of ecology with expertise in emerging viruses and microbial evolution at Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA. “So, scientists are assuming that what works against other coronaviruses can work against this one.”
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, daily disinfection of frequently touched surfaces such as tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks, is recommended to help keep Covid-19 at bay. Research has shown that it can survive on some surfaces for up 9 days.
Chemical Solutions recommends a 3-step procedure when cleaning surfaces around your house or business. First, cover the surface with a regular cleaning detergent. Second, wipe the surface or rinse it clean. Finally, sanitise the surface with one of our branded sanitising products.
“The important thing is to make sure you cover surfaces properly with disinfectant and scrub with pressure using a sponge or towel,” La Trobe University epidemiologist and Associate Professor Hassan Vally says.
In the wake of ethanol supply issues being restricted due to the virus, Chemical Solutions just developed a new sanitising agent with hydrogen peroxide called Viruclear. It was created specifically for reducing infectivity of coronaviruses, known to persist on surfaces such as metal, glass and plastic. It is suitable for use in commercial, industrial, health care and other public facilities.
