Meet Alex, our new Auckland based Account Manager
Alex is looking forward to meeting all his customers, and getting to know them personally.
What do you do at Chemical Solutions and why would our customers call you?
I am an account manager and look after customers from Auckland CBD to Whangarei and everywhere in between. Our customers will contact me for a number of reasons including placing orders, requesting product information and training, solutions to hygiene related issues and in emergencies, if equipment has broken down.
What led you to this career step?
For the 10 years prior to joining CSL, I was general manager of Gulf Foods Waiheke Island. In that role I distributed the Kemsol range and during this time I grew to know the product range and the CSL team, and always enjoyed my interactions. When looking for new job opportunities recently, I was looking for a role where I could expand on my relationship management and sales skills.
What is a typical day like?
A typical day involves planning meetings, travelling throughout Auckland Central and Whangarei to visit customers, provide training, deliver orders, and install and maintain equipment. If a customer has a breakdown or emergency delivery this can change up the day dramatically, however, I love the challenge.
What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?
Currently I’m working through my list of customers that I represent and introducing myself personally. I enjoy meeting new people and this role has given me the opportunity to do it for a living.
What’s one thing that surprised you about working at Chemical Solutions?
From my first induction and walkthrough, I was impressed by how many co-workers said “you’ll enjoy it here.” It really is a testament to the company’s culture to hear that from all areas of the business. Good company culture is something that takes a lot of work to create and maintain, and I’m really excited to be a part of this.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
I love to sail. Growing up on Waiheke meant I always had the water available. After working the summer as a 13-year-old to buy my first boat big enough to sleep on, my friends and I began exploring the Hauraki Gulf and continue to do so to this day.
Do you have a hidden talent?
Some would say I have a talent of breaking phones. My new year’s resolution is to have the same phone for one year. Three months into the year and I am keeping up the resolution!
