Mike is our new National Sales Manager.
Find out more about what motivates him and why he’s joined the team at Chemical Solutions.
Q. What do you do at Chemical Solutions?
A. My role at Chemical Solutions is the National Sales Manager, responsible for the national sales development along with supporting the team to deliver great solutions to our valued customers.
Q. What led you to this career step?
After being involved at senior management levels with previous companies, I wanted to gravitate back to a role where I could focus primarily on Sales Management, and be with a customer-centric business that actually makes a difference.
Q. What is a typical day like?
Having just started with the business, I’m still in the induction phase, so I’m yet to experience a “typical” day. However, my time in the role will be spent strategising, planning, and supporting the team, helping deliver the business goals and aspirations that lie ahead.
Q. What’s one thing that surprised you about working at Chemical Solutions?
Many companies talk the talk about creating positive work environments, but Chemical Solutions actually walks the talk and is very active in this space. Already in my first few weeks there has been a staff social event and a monthly cultural lunch, so lots of opportunity to have some fun and generate positive social engagement with the team.
Q. What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
Up until recently, my weekends revolved around being a sports taxi for my 3 teenager boys, but as they have grown up and now have their drivers licences, I find myself with more time for my wife Vicki & I to spend together. From a sports perspective, I enjoy playing golf and, more for fitness, road bike twice a week with a cycling group. And if I run out of household domestics to do, there’s always the dog to walk.
Q. Do you have a hidden talent?
I have an eye for spotting lost golf balls and invariably walk out of the hazards with more than I started the round with. One time I was golf ball hunting with my son, and was determined to find at least one ball. He wanted to go, so he cunningly dropped a golf ball in my vicinity for me to miraculously find, just so we could go – kids are smart.
